It has been quite a while since I last blogged!
In the meantime, I have been in Davenport for a bachelorette party, in Cedar Rapids for Independence Day and to survey the extensive flood damage :( ... I have been to Lincoln, NE for a wedding, and drove to Deerwood, MN, sat on top of Iowa's state capitol, and have driven all around Iowa for work. I have been able to get my workouts in here and there, not always in the form of running, but in the form of swimming at Iowa State, jumping on a trampoline with my nephews, and last night, walking all over Ames soliciting donations from RAGBRAI riders. I made almost $100 just from that and also got the word out about Team In Training.
I have not been receiving as many checks lately, so I will probably be sending out reminder postcards soon. Recommitment is coming up soon, which means I will be locked in to the fund raising goal because TNT is going to have to start making reservations and booking flights. I don't think I am going to be able to raise all $4,300 I need to participate in San Francisco. :( I have a few more weeks to decide what the next step will be.
The way I see it, the options are simple:
1) Work my tail off and make the $4,300.
2) Work my tail off and make $4,100. This will be enough for me to go to the Rock & Roll San Antonio race and see Pat Benetar. I know the difference is only $200, but it would give me an extra month to spend raising the cash.
3) Work my tail off and raise $2,000 so I can participate in the Des Moines Marathon. I know this is a real, viable option and no matter how much I raise, just training and getting donations is an accomplishment in itself, but... I can run in Des Moines any day of the week. I would like to have the trip be sort of a reward, and Des Moines is just not that exciting to me anymore. I am down there sometimes several times a week for work and practice.
We'll see how things go.
I'll keep you posted.
... oh and I last sent in over $300 in checks that should be credited to my account soon (along with the $144 that Ryan and I raised at the Corn 500 over a month ago). Today I received 2 donations of $100 each... So by my estimation, I am almost to $800 (?) I have continued selling brownies and now M&Ms at work, so that is pretty steady, maybe like $5 per week. But it all adds up! I have some plans in the works, too. I am hoping to incorporate some sort of fundraiser with the football games when they start up.
Well, I should probably go get some miles in today before it gets too dark!
Have a good night!
